Mental Health & Wellbeing
Our Vision for Mental Health & Wellbeing
At Crofton Junior School, we are committed to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of our pupils, staff and parents. We have a supportive and caring ethos and our approach is respectful and kind, where each individual and contribution is valued. At our school, we know that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us vulnerable and, at times, anyone may need additional emotional support. We take the view that positive mental health is everybody’s business and that we all have a role to play.
New Resource: Mental Health Padlet for Parents
We’re pleased to introduce a new Mental Health Padlet specially designed for our parent community. This interactive online space brings together helpful resources, practical tips, and support tools to help you care for your child’s — and your own — mental well-being.
Whether you're looking for advice on managing stress, understanding your child’s emotional needs, or finding local support services, the Padlet is here to support you. Content is regularly updated and includes:
Articles and videos on children’s mental health
Guidance on how to talk to your child about emotions
Tips for supporting well-being at home
School mental health initiatives and updates
Links to trusted services and helplines

We encourage all parents to explore this resource and check back often for new updates. If you have suggestions or need specific support, please don't hesitate to reach out to our school’s pastoral or wellbeing team.
Together, we can help build a strong foundation of mental wellness for all our students and families.
Mental Health & Wellbeing of Parents/Carers
Being a parent/carer can be challenging and we all need to reach out for support at times. We are here to provide advice and direct you to organisations that can offer you with additional support when you require it.

Mental Health & Wellbeing of Our Pupils/Children
Schools have a critical role to play in the mental health and wellbeing of their pupils. At Crofton Junior School, the skills, knowledge and understanding needed by our students to keep themselves mentally healthy and safe are included as part of our developmental PSHE curriculum, which is taught using the Jigsaw scheme of work. Jigsaw brings together PSHE Education, compulsory Relationships and Health Education, emotional literacy, mindfulness, social skills and spiritual development. A specific unit (Healthy Me) is also focussed on the emotional and mental health of our students.
We also focus heavily on problem solving and resilience within lessons and as part of the whole school culture. Staff have been trained to recognise children who may need additional support with their mental health and our Mental Health School Procedure allows us to act quickly and effectively.
Mental Health & Wellbeing of Staff
Our staff's mental health & wellbeing is a big priority at Crofton Junior School and we do all that we can to ensure staff are and feel effectively supported.
